Congratulations to Maria O’Halloran, Isabelle Hackett and Sarah Condron who were the representatives from Malahide CC on the Leinster U13 girls team who played against North Wales in Pembroke CC on Monday 10th August.
Leinster lost the toss and batted first, Sarah Condron opened the batting; with Maria O’Halloran opening the bowling. North Wales needed 116 to win and unfortunately for Leinster they achieved this target in the 27th over. Good performances all round with the Malahide girls playing their part in a very close game, Sarah Condron set the foundations with a good opening partnership of 25 runs off the first 6 overs and later with the ball in hand taking a crucial wicket of one the North Wales top order batsmen. Maria O’Halloran batted with great skill and patience during her innings scoring regularly with some fine shots and was very economical when bowling. Isabelle Hackett showed once again her heart and determination and played one of the best games and made some crucial saves with her outstanding fielding.
Overall the girls should be very proud of how they played despite the loss to North Wales. A big thanks to the hosts Pembroke CC and to the organisers for a fantastic event.
