It's been great to see The Village looking so good on TV over the last couple of weeks, everybody has obviously been working really hard under Lorraine and Frosty's direction to get the ground in great shape. With Scotland doing well in the tournament, Malahide has been getting plenty of attention over here in Edinburgh this week.

I've been in Scotland now for 6 weeks and I'm really enjoying my time playing for Carlton Cricket Club in Edinburgh which is Jim Govan's old club and there are plenty of photos of a very young looking Jim in the clubhouse. Two of Carlton's players Preston Mommson and Ali Evans have been in Malahide this week with the Scotland Team and they also have Hamish Gardiner, Fraser Watts, Gordon Drummond and former Irish International Rory McCann playing for the club. I've been playing for both the 1sts and the 2nds so its been great to get plenty of games, I took 3 wickets on my debut for the 1sts which was a good start. I was living in a house that was about a 15 minute bike ride from the club but last week I moved into a house that's literally next door to the club which is handy for training and matches.

I got selected for the Scotland U17 team which has been a great experience as they play in the Northern Section of the U17 County Championship. The matches are all 2 day games with 100 overs each day, so far I've played against Durham, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Cumbria and next week we're going down to Newcastle to play against Northumberland so hopefully we will get a couple of dry days.

We had a decent week of weather last week for the Carlton Summer Camp where we had over a hundred  6 to 13 year olds to keep occupied all week just like back home in Malahide. Edinburgh is a great place to live especially in the Summer as there is so much going on, the Edinburgh Festival starts next week so I'm sure the City will get even busier.

Anyway, I follow all the Malahide news on the website, good to see that the 2nds and 3rds are both going well and that the 1sts had a great result against YMCA. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again when I'm back at the end of August and playing some matches for Malahide before the end of the season.
