On a sunny afternoon in the village, skipper Duffy won the toss and batting first was the only thought in his head.  A solid start was needed and Gilmore and Symmons put on 40 for the first wicket.  Symmons was unfortunately caught but this led to the introduction of Chris Long.  Gillie and Chris put on close to 150, Gillie back to his fluent best scoring 70 odd.  Chris played majestically and was well set for his second club ton before he was caught behind and left stranded on 99. A suberb effort by Long and Gilmore.  The middle order chipped in and the Village scored 253, a pleasing score but by no means a done deal at tea.  Gibbons and Inder opened the bowling with guile and picked up some important wickets keeping the run rate below that needed.  Stevie Smith bowled with expertise and picked up two great wickets and could have had more.  Alex and Ryan played vital roles picking up important wickets and the skipper mopped up the tail, in between a Gibbons run out, yes that's right, a Gibbons run out.  There were a few hairy moments but the Village won by 30 runs, a great effort and special mention to Conor Whelan who took some great catches behind the sticks.
