4th's find it's grim up North
21 Jul 2014
An understrength 4th XI made up of the young, the old and the very old , put in a brave performance at the Dundalk Oval (a mecca for Hare Coursing officianardos apparantly) . Batting first, Dundalk took advantage of the short boundaries to put up a season's best total of 269 for 9 in their 45 overs. It was hard labour for all the bowlers but Steve Twaddell rolled back the years with 2 wickets and there were 2 a piece for youngsters David O'Halloran and Alex Davies. In reply Malahide were always behind the run rate but Dave Symmons batted very well for 69, John Brogan made a quick fire 28 and Riley Shoebridge made an accomplished 23no. The innings finished with skipper Alan Quinn hitting a huge 6 (with his new bat) which got the Malahide score upto 200....but sadly 69 runs short.
