U17's snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

16 Jul 2014

With 10 overs of their innings remaining , Malahide were 155 for 1 chasing a target of 195 and looked well set for an excellent victory. With Cameron Shoebridge (67) and Glen Cosgrove (53) thumping the ball to all parts there only appeared to be one winner. However, cricket has the habit of continually producing the unexpected and when Cameron and Glen were out within an over of each other, the remaining 9 wickets fell for 29 runs in 9 overs leaving Malahide 10 runs short....unbelievable. In reality loose bowling and a far from stellar fielding performance meant that The Hills posted a total at least 25 to 30 runs higher than they should have.
