The End of the Road

13 Sep 2019

For the second week in a row the opposition chased down over 200 and win with 7 balls to spare.  Again we used 7 bowlers and they toiled against some big hitting on the mat in the Lady Acre.  Leslee Mutathothill was the most economical with 8 overs 1 for 31.  Eoghan Keohane added to his season's tally of wickets with a further 2 at a cost of 40 off 8.

The 4ths won the toss and batted first against Clontarf 5ths in the last match of the season.  Both teams chasing second spot in Division 10.  The seconds were playing on the main pitch against Merrion.  Brian Gilmore and Adam Doyle resumed their opening partnership aggregating 75 years.  Young Doyle gave impetus to the start of the innings as he has done all season.  35 for the first wicket, Doyle 19.  Gilmore and Mutathothill came together at 66 for 4 and put on 88 between over 20 and 34.  Leslee striking four sixes in his quickfire 50.  The veteran Gilmore, who faced the first ball of the innings, was run out off the last ball having accumulated a century 103.
