Minor Girls lose league semi final nail biter to Merrion

20 Aug 2018

Having won four matches in a row, the girls were delighted to reach the semi final of the league and take on Merrion once more. The sun just came out in time for the match and hopes were high.

This was a closely-fought game from the start, with exceptional fielding by the Malahide girls. Bowling, however, was up and down, with some costly wides. The Merrion bowling was tighter and more consistent, but their fielding was not quite as accurate, allowing Malahide to build up a decent score taking quick runs where at all possible.

The match could have gone either way right to the end, with 5 wickets being taken by both teams! Merrion took their final wicket close to the end of the last over and victory was theirs. They won by 6 runs. So close! It certainly was an exciting game, right to the very end. Well done to the Minor Girls on reaching the semi final - no mean achievement! - and for giving a good show of cricket right to the very end!
