2nd win of the weekend for Junior Boys

24 Jun 2018

Following Saturday's convincing win away to Adamstown for the Junior A Boys, Sunday was the turn of the Junior B Boys to host North County on the top pitch.

The hottest day of the year saw an equally hot performance from the team. We won the toss and Captain James Dickinson put the visitors in to bat first. Some initial sloppy fielding allowed North County to press on, with their top three adding 50 in the first 8 overs, but once their opener, Rohit, retired on 30, our bowlers tore apart the rest of the order. Daniel Crampton with another tidy 1 for 14 off 4 overs, Mathew Langan 2 for 14 of 3.1 overs and the pick of the bowlers for the day was skipper James with 3 for 14 off his 4 overs. North County ending up 90 for 9 off their 20 overs.

Set 91 to win, with the temperature rising fast, we lost opener Finn cheaply, which brought James in to partner Aaron Doyle. Aaron went on to retire (yet again!) on 26, bringing his total for the weekend to an unbeaten 56 not out for the A's & B's. James produced a captain's innings to match his bowling performance with a crafty 27, retiring not out to be top scorer. Mathew and Sean kept control to see us past the required total midway through the 14th over.

A commanding win, the 2nd of the weekend for this squad of lads.
