Convincing away win for Junior A Boys

23 Jun 2018

Early start for the 11th match of the season for the Junior Boys, away in a peaceful and sun drenched Corkagh Park to play Adamstown.

A first class all round performance from our whole team on the day. Winning the toss and cleverly putting them in first, Elliot captained well with excellent field settings and good rotation of the strike bowlers. Both openers caught behind by Jack Grant early on put the home team under pressure. Tight bowling from our boys, everyone returning excellent figures - Mathew 1 for 7 off 4 and Daniel 1 for 13 off 4 most notably - and super fielding with no misfields or dropped catches limited the Adamstown Boys to just 75 off their 20 overs.

So, set 76 to win, our openers set about the task with a string of quick singles that left the fielding side in disarray and arguing with each other. Mathew uncharacteristically out early caught behind to a good ball, left Jack and Aaron to push the pace towards victory. Aaron retired (again) on 30 and Jack was out to a great catch in the deep for 21. Daniel and Oliver JC steered us home to a comfortable victory midway through the 14th over.

A dominant display from our lads who have now formed a strong team spirit that was missing early on in the season, but now very evident and bringing them extra confidence.

Well played to the whole team
