U13B Lose away to YMCA

16 Jul 2017

The U13B Boys traveled to YMCA looking for a third straight victory but were met by a determined YMCA team.

Malahide won the toss and put the home side in to bat, who seized their chance under grey skies to pile on the runs. Three of YM's opening four retired in the 20's and all their team protected their wickets well, with some sloppy fielding adding to our woes and causing the Malahide attack to become frustrated. The home team's 110 looked a big total.

The sun came out for the Malahide innings, but simple, straight, wicket to wicket bowling decimated the Malahide batsmen. The first two balls of our innings resulted in Matthew and Daniel out clean bowled and another four of our boys were to follow in the same fashion.

Josh and Alex Moore put up fine resistance batting together and peppered the boundary, with Josh retiring on 20 and Alex out bowled going for a final big hit on 19.

James Dickinson hung around for 7 overs for a resilient 10 runs and James Corroon produced a stylish and calmly constructed innings of 16 runs remaining not out at the end. Our final wicket falling on the last ball of the match still 29 runs short.
