U15Bs Begin with Win

13 Jul 2017

The boys U15B team began their season with a comfortable victory at a sun-drenched Adamstown.  Tight bowling from Matthew and Oliver J-C at the start meant the Adamstown openers were under pressure.  Spells from Eoghan and Wilhelm added to that pressure and Wilhelm took the break-through wicket.  After drinks Adamstown went on the attack, but good bowling from Diarmuid (2-23) and Adam (2-12), plus a wicket from Chris pegged them back.  Malahide's fielding was excellent with catches by Finn, Chris, Wilhelm and Oliver Manks, a sharp stumping by Jack and a run out at the end by Chris.  Special mention must go to Conal de Burca who in his first-ever match took a remarkable catch in the deep.

Opening the batting Diarmuid and Jack took the game away from the opposition with quick runs. When Jack was out on 27, Adam (10) and Eoghan (5*) finished the job.  Diarmuid carried his bat for a chanceless 46 to secure an eight-wicket win with eight overs to spare.

Thanks to Adamstown for their hospitality and for an entertaining match played in the right spirit.
