A young 5th XI took on Wicklow 2nds on a bitterly cold day in Bray.
After winning the toss, Malahide put in the home side. After an early wicket from the skipper, Wicklow dug in but had still only reached 50 at the 20 over drinks break. A middle order flourished put Malahide under pressure but fine bowling from Matthew Carrick (2-16) and debutant Camron Calder (2-28) but the brakes on again and Wicklow were bowled out on the last ball for 157.
At 35-2, Malahide's experienced openers had been removed but young guns Rory Govan (29), Camron Calder (26) and Liam Lydon (13) batted brilliantly to leave Malahide just 21 short.
Result: Wicklow 2 157-10 beat Malahide 5 136-10 by 21 runs
