A slight communication mix up meant that parents, lads, CDO and spectators had to make the return journey to Malahide rather sooner than expected.  Fortunately, the top pitch was unoccupied and the game got underway only a few minutes past the scheduled start time. 

Despite the early loss of Rory, the lads took full advantage of the unexpected home fixture.  Wilhelm's retirement was well supported by some good runs from Diarmuid, Jack, Eoin and Daniel, the latter hitting his highest score of the season. Helped by over 20 sundries - unusual at this level - Clontarf were asked to get 109 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, the batsmen found it difficult to hit the ball forward of the wicket.  Disciplined bowling was matched by some good fielding and catches. With the fall of the first wicket in the 5th over, Clontarf fell steadily behind the required run rate.  Good catches from Finn (2), Jack, Daniel, a run out from Rory and some whole-hearted fielding from Adam Doyle, Adam Roche, Josh, Alex and Chris restricted the total to 62.

Lads will be playing Railway Union away 5pm Tuesday afternoon 9th.
