Enjoying a rare and welcome treat to Pitch1, Malahide 5ths won the toss and elected to bat. Openers Shamil Koottembeth & CS Koushik batted steadily in the afternoon sun but were out for 37 & 44 respectively when trying to accelerate after drinks. With the pressure on, a sensible knock of 19 from Ryan Court held the inning together and a late flurry by Malcolm Ogilvie (23 n.o. twice) gave a defendable total of 165 – 6 off the 40 overs.

Unfortunately the required early breakthrough never materialised and despite late wickets from younglings Rory Govan, Ben Askew & Dan Read, Cabinteely made the runs with 12 overs to spare.
