In the first game of what is essentially an U14 tournament (no 3rd year students), Malahide came out 2nd best in a game of contrasting performances. Bowling first, the Malahide lads started brilliantly getting the 10 player Phoenix side 14-4 (Diarmuid Burke 3-13) after 6 overs. A middle innings batting recovery and 33 extra's helped the home side to a par 91 all out. Extra's aside it was generally a very good overall first half with some aggressive bowling (Binyam Keegan 2-19, Ben Askew 1-10, Matthew Jeffrey-Carrick 1-20) tight fielding and excellent captaincy from SJ de Klerk.

The second half is to be forgotten! SJ fell 2 short of a half century but the other lads managed 23 runs between them off the bat and although we were only 9 runs short of their target when our final wicket fell, the lads were a long way short of matching their opposition with the bat.
