The 2016 season got underway on a windy but sunny afternoon at The Village when Browny's Malahide Select XI took on Martham CC from the UK. After Martham's heroic attempt on Friday to break the Irish All Comers Record for lager consumption they arrived at the club in "decent" shape for their tour match. Batting first Martham put up a defendable total of 126 for 9 in their 30 overs, in reply Malahide chased down the total in 22 overs to complete a 3 wicket victory. There were some memorable moments, particularly Browny's over that contained 3 no balls, 3 free hits, the stumps being re-arranged 4 times but only 1 wicket !!! The real significance of the match was that it was Atif Kamal's final appearance for the club before his move to Luxembourg. Atif has been a great player for the club over the last 6 years or so and is just an alround good bloke, so it was fitting that he took a wicket with his final ball and that he finished the match by hitting a "trademark" maximum.  Mr Kamal you will be sorely missed.
