Match report The quarter final of the Whelan Cup between Malahide 4th XI and Clontarf 4th XI went ahead on Monday 18th June despite some wintery weather at the start. Having won the toss, Malahide decided to bat first but struggled at the start losing two quick wickets until rising star Benlee Muttathottil score a quick 28. More wickets fell until veterans Conor Herbert, Alan Quinn (27 not out) and skipper Howard Askew put on over 40 runs near the end to help the home side finish on 120 for 8 from their 15 eight ball overs.

In the second half, Malahide soon got on top with tight bowling from Howard Askew, Inderjit Singh and 3 wickets from left arm stalwart Conor Gibbons. Great ground fielding from Clare Shillington, Desmond Hortsmann, John Brogan and youngster Cameron Shoebridge and 2 more wickets and a run out from Benlee put Malahide firmly in charge.

It was left to Anton Weir to take the final wicket and Malahide bowled out Clontarf for 91 and won by 29 runs to reach the semi final which will take place in Malahide on Monday 2nd July at 6pm
