Match report The rain that was forecast did not arrive and we had a reasonable evening for our home match against Wicklow. With both teams only fielding 10 players we batted first and just like the game against Terenure some of our more experienced batsmen came up short. Billy Goodwin made a quick 13 and with Robbie Condron, Graham Perry and Danny Smith making their 20s to save us from total embarrassment - resulting in a final score of 112 which was always going to be a challenge to defend.

Putting our best bowling line-up first we kept the run rate down and took wickets so well that going into the last 2 overs they were down to their last man, captain Johnny Joyce, and still needed 11 runs to win - so game on! A superb delivery from Danny Smith made Johnny edge it to the keeper and he started to walk but unfortunately Dougie Keegan had brought his gloves together too quickly and the ball hit his thumb and didn’t stick!

With no options left, one of our non-bowlers had to take the last over and with just a few balls to go Johnny Joyce hit a 6 to get the winning runs. An exciting game that could have gone either way, played in the the true spirit of Taverners!
