Junior B Boys fall at Semi Final Hurdle

14 Aug 2018

After an unbeaten season so far which left the Junior B team unbeaten leaders of the "North" B League, YMCA visited The Village from the "South" League for the Junior B League Semi Final clash.

A great start by our bowlers and fielders in  restricting YM early on. A smart run out by Noah and good catches from James and Mitch accounted for the openers. The YM middle order also stumbled thanks to classy bowling from Mitch (2 for 13 off 4) and Rohit (2 for 14 off 3). Rohit also taking 2 catches. Mathew and James C also chipping in with wickets.

But a clever batting order from YM brought in their big hitters at 9 & 10 to take a low score passed the respectable level (116 for 8), leaving us nervous as we started our reply.

Our openers went cheaply with only Aaron Doyle (26) putting up any early resistance. Ellis hung around in the middle order for a while for a solid 16, but that was about it for our batters. All out for 86 coming up 30 short.

A shame to end on a loss as the team spirit in this group has carried them through adversity during the summer. A season of played 7 and won 6 is something they can be rightly proud of and can take them through to next year.

Thanks to the parents today for coming out and for Michael and Anish for their help with setting up and officiating and to Karen for doing the book.

2019 will be a bright season for the Junior Boys squad.
