Minor Girls have a comfortable win over Clontarf

09 Aug 2018

Despite the forecast of rain, the afternoon suddenly turned bright and sunny, allowing the Minor Girls play their refixed match against Clontarf. Malahide won the toss and put Clontarf in to bat. The girls followed up with a solid bowling performance, taking a number of wickets. Malahide was also quick in the field, keeping Clontarf hemmed in and their run rate down, although unfortunately taking a fractured finger in the process!

When it was Malahide’s turn to bat, the girls opened up the game well from the off. They knocked a few boundaries, but it was the quick running between the stumps to nick a single or more - given any opportunity! - that really marked them out. Despite a few risky runs, the bravery paid off and they made use of a number of overthrows to build on an already decent score. Malahide won by 38 runs.

Well done to Malahide for remaining so alert and for keeping up the momentum throughout the whole match. The girls have certainly come together well as a team!
